IGNOU Community College
Community Colleges are an alternative system of education which aims to empower individuals through appropriate skill development leading to gainful employment in collaboration with the local Industry and Community.
For the first time in India, Community College system is a dynamic alternative route to acquire IGNOU certified education which connects one with gainful employment.
The IGNOU Community College Scheme was launched on July 04, 2009. Under this scheme a community College can get registered for offering academic Programmes at the levels of Certificate, Diploma & Associate Degree. IGNOU Community college offer the advantage of tailoring programs to local needs & state based requirements by using approaches that will be most acceptable to workers in the given community.
A Community College may be defined as an Institution which is “For the community, By the community and Of the community” and entitled to award an Associate Degree (AD) as its highest degree. It offers educational opportunities to all sections of society, particularly the marginalized & the disadvantaged. A community can be locality based, region based, trade based or occupation based and even ICT enabled service based.
